Rosemary "Rose" Procopio, 85, of Carlsbad, CA, took flight from this world on November 22, 2023, leaving behind a trail of memories as vibrant as her spirit. Born on April 21, 1938, in Los Angeles, CA, Rosie was the life of the party, and she knew how to make every moment count. After 85 years of exceptional health, Rose was blindsided by a cancer diagnosis that she faced with courage and dignity right to the end.
Rosie graduated from Bellflower High School in 1956. After high school Rose married Roger Crabb and moved to Arkansas where Rog served in the Air Force and Rose perfected her recipe for biscuits and gravy. Rosie left Arkansas for California in September of 1960 determined to have her first child born in California. She nailed it!
Rose was a proud lifetime AutoClub employee. Rosie's journey at "The Club" was nothing short of legendary. From starting at the counter planning trip tics and reading maps upside down, to conquering claims subrogation, she climbed the ladder like a pro. If you needed advice on handling your claim, Rosie was your go-to gal. And if you didn't, well, she had some epic tales of claims conquered. Retirement from the AutoClub couldn't keep her away from her lifetime friends, as she stayed in touch with them for over two decades, even speaking with some the week before she left us.
When Rosie wasn't busy gardening and traveling, she cherished her role as a loving mother to her daughter, Bonnie Jo Crabb-Henry, told anyone who would listen how incredible her son-in-law, Dave Henry is and found happiness in the company of her sweetheart, Richard Robinson.
Rose loved to talk to anyone about anything. She actually nicknamed herself, "the mouth". Some of her favorite topics were traveling in her rig, staying at the Kiahuna Plantation in Kauai, beach camping and of course her "perfect" children.
She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Leon Crabb, her husband, Vincent Procopio, and her parents, Joseph G. and Lou Finnegan.
While Rosie's services are yet to be planned, her family encourages everyone to celebrate life everyday with the same gusto that she did. Keep Rosie in mind and mark your calendars for her birthday in April.
In memory of Rosie, the family kindly requests contributions to the Rancho Coastal Humane Society in Encinitas. CA. If you knew Rose, you knew Andy. And you know she loved that little rescue pup.
Rest assured, she's in heaven throwing a party, looking up old friends and, spreading joy. Cheers to you, Rosie! You'll be missed, but never forgotten.
Cheers from Rose until she sees you again!

Jim passed away peacefully listening to Doris Day singing, with his daughters by his side.
April 26, 1928 ~ October 2, 2023
Jim passed away peacefully listening to Doris Day singing, with his daughters by his side. Whether you called him Jim, Dad, Pop, Grandpa, Uncle Jim, Mr. B., or Chief, he will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, neighbor and friend. He was born in 1928 in a small town outside of Bay City, Michigan. His parents owned a general store out in the country. He was the baby of 4 sisters and 2 brothers. He enlisted in the Navy in 1947. He, his wife, and children traveled, living on Navy Bases all over the United States; Florida, Texas, California and Michigan. He was in Vietnam during 1965 – 1966 aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. He retired in 1968 after serving over 2 years as a Navy Recruiter in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Upon retirement, the family relocated to San Diego, where he began a second career with Civil Service on North Island Navy Base as a Planner and Estimator for base shops. He and his wife enjoyed raising their children, traveling, being in a bowling league, and seeing both daughters marry. During this time he also went back to college on the GI Bill, graduating with a bachelor degree. He then retired again in 1986, and continued to enjoy playing senior citizen softball, bowling and traveling overseas. He bought into a hardware store and worked there part time.
He fit the title perfectly ~ An Officer and a Gentleman. He was always known for his wit, sense of humor, love of his family, being a true friend and always loving his beer. He broke his right hand playing softball the day before his youngest daughter’s wedding, but that didn’t stop him from shaking hands over and over. However in his left hand he always had a cold beer to numb the pain.
He is pre-deceased by his parents, John and Eva Brustmaker and his sisters, Orpha (Louie) Stein, Faye (Jack) Rouech, Vera (Kelly) Ellison, and Iris Brustmaker and his brothers Lyle (Inez) Brustmaker and Jack (Evelyn) Brustmaker. Pre-deceased by his loving wife of over 25 years, Bonnie (Holmes) Brustmaker, his son Mark Lee Brustmaker, and his second wife, Sharon Ball. Also, pre-deceased by many old Navy buddies, which he maintained friendships (and raised hell with) for decades.
He is survived by his children, Debbie Lord-Alexa (Johnny), James Scott Brustmaker and Dana Brustmaker. He is also survived by his grandchildren Matthew (Claudia) Lord, J. Marc (Shannon) Lord, Arthur Avitia III and James A. Avitia, and his Great-Grandchildren Kyle, Isaac, Levi, Jackson, Samuel, Rylaigh, Delaney and Cullem Lord along iwth generations of nieces and nephews.
There will be a private celebration of life where his ashes will be scattered over the Pacific Ocean in January 2024 “beer will flow”. A special thank you to Ivy Park Assisted Living Bonita and Comfort Peace Hospice Care for their wonderful, gracious and loving care they showed our father in this last year. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in his memory.

In recent years, Art became involved with a vibrant community of local muscians, both forming bands as well as playing alongside friends throughout Southern California and the west. The beach was Art’s happy place and he found a home in many over the course of his considerable travels. He enjoyed surfing, fishing and boating but often Art could be found contented strumming his guitar on the sand; singing out to the sea, admiring the gentle curve of the horizon. We will forever cherish Art's quick wit, infectious smile and the warmth and kindness that radiated from his eyes.
A private memorial will be held in New Hampshire in October and a celebration of life is taking place in Encinitas,CA on Sunday, September 17th from 4pm -7pm.

jane klamerus
Jane (Nawoj) Klamerus, 96 years, passed away Monday, July 10, 2023, at Pacifica Senior Living in Encinitas, CA.
Jane (Nawoj) Klamerus, 96 years, passed away Monday, July 10, 2023, at Pacifica Senior Living in Encinitas, CA. She experienced a fun day playing balloon volleyball in the afternoon, had a typical dinner in the dining room, watched the evening movie in the living room and then was escorted to her bedroom by the caregiver. On the way, she fainted and shortly thereafter passed.
Jane loved java chip ice cream, kosher pickles, kielbasa, spending time with her grandchildren, reading James Patterson novels and watching the Hallmark channel. She had been an amazing seamstress, cook and baker (Polish dishes like pierogi, gołąbki, kolacki). Jane spent many years taking care of both her mother and her husband so when the time came for Jane to be taken care of her daughter Karen was there.
Jane is survived by her son Kenneth (Jean) Klamerus and her daughter Karen Klamerus; her grandsons Daniel Klamerus, Joseph Klamerus, Peter Zeller, Lukus Zeller and Jakab Zeller.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents John and Katherine Nawoj and her brothers Joseph and Edward Nawoj.
No formal service is planned. Cremation is through Cremation Services, Inc. (www.csicremationandburial.com). Jane would not want us to be sad but rather would glow when smiles were around. So in her honor, do something simple that would put a smile on your face and thus hers: indulge in a bowl of ice cream, fly a big red balloon, put one special flower in a vase in your bathroom, eat an entire chocolate/nut bar, hum while cuddling a child, etc. and say out loud, “Cheers to you, Jane. Thank you for being part of my life”.

Stella served her community throughout her working life and into retirement: a volunteer at Encinitas public schools, a mentor for bilingual children, a coordinator of the Burke Lecture Series through the Newman Center, a leader in the YMCA adult walking program, and a volunteer and board member at the Encinitas library. June 13, 2023, Jennifer Sue Howard, 51, of Vista, CA, passed away peacefully at home after battling ovarian cancer with family and friends at her side.
Jennifer was born on July 12, 1971 to Joanne Warfel and the late Garry Jordan in Phoenix, AZ. There Jennifer grew up in a beautiful home with her parents and sister Janell Kelly. The two of course butted heads as siblings do but were always close since a young age. Jennifer was always active, doing cheer and going to every social event at school. At an early age she was known for making people laugh with her quick wit and for her individuality and strong will.
After graduating from Phoenix Christian High School in 1989 she went on to college to become a paralegal.
Jennifer quickly climbed the ladder in her career and worked for multiple top law firms in Arizona and later California. In 1996 she had her daughter Caitlyn, who she adored. Somehow Jennifer always managed her family and work life balance, even in times of stress. She made sure to show up for the people she cared for.
In 2015 she married the love of her life Jim Howard. The two had gone to the same high school and fate brought them back together years later. The two together were perfect, soulmates. They enjoyed the same things and always wanted to grow together, fought for each other when times were tough, challenged each other when needed, and took care of each other. Jim was her partner right by her side until the end.
In 2021 Jennifer moved to California, which had been one of her dreams for years. She built a home and life there with Jim. They were able to go to the beach any time and she felt her best and at ease when she was in the water.
Jennifer was a strong and beautiful woman, a caring mother, and a leader. She was a jack of all trades and made it a point to succeed at anything she put her mind to. She always stood on her word and did what needed to be done. She encouraged others to also speak their mind and go for what they truly want. And she taught her daughter how to be brave and follow her passions. She always wanted to make everyone else’s life easier and make sure they were happy. Even when she got sick. She made an impact on so many people. And she always made it a point to dress up for an occasion with her colorful clothes and tastefully styled hair. Her bubbly personality always lit up a room and managed to bring people closer together. She filled her life with love and warmth until her last days. She will be missed by all of those who knew her. But we know she is up above still watching over us all and cheering us on.
Jennifer is survived by her mother Joanne Warfel, her sister Janell Kelly, Kevin Kelly, her husband Jim Howard, and her daughter Caitlyn Casey.

After spending a few days at the hospital with family, Hans quietly passed on the night of December 4th, 2022, the result of a stroke. Hans is survived by his wife, two daughters, little brother, and extended family across the world.
Born in Germany, raised in Colombia, and aged in the United States, Hans was a true wanderer at heart, always encouraging us to explore, travel, and learn through experiences.

ELAINE C. WALTERS
Elaine C. Walters (fondly known as Lainey by her family) passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on October 8, 2022 with family by her side.
Elaine C. Walters (fondly known as Lainey by her family) passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on October 8, 2022 with family by her side. For the nine decades she blessed this earth, she was a force, full of energy and love. Outgoing by nature, Lainey was adored not only by her children, but by their friends and her friends as well. Her unique gift was connecting with people. She made each person feel valued and comfortable, no matter their age, their gender or background. Positive energy, a witty sense of humor and a love of martinis meant she was frequently the life of the party. Her passing has left a huge hole in the hearts of her family and friends, but we know that her upbeat spirit will, no doubt, be felt in heaven.
Elaine was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on August 15, 1928, and she grew up in the Midwest. In her youth she was active in the 4-H Club (winning first place in the Indiana State Fair for growing a large green bean), was an avid horseback rider, enjoyed fishing on the lake at her grandparents’ lodge and loved all things related to nature. In 1955, she fell in love and married her wonderful partner, Donald Walters, and they built a life together with their two children in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Lainey was a girl scout leader, a room mother (for virtually all years and all classes), and an enthusiastic fan at swim meets, field hockey games and lacrosse matches. She was a gifted seamstress which she put to use making creative Christmas decorations to raise money at the church bazaar, elaborate costumes for water shows and school plays and Halloween outfits second to none. She was also an accomplished artist, and her beautiful pastel and water color paintings adorn the walls of family and friends. She loved to move and was physically active through Jazzercise, jitterbug dancing, pool aerobics, yoga, exercise classes and especially golf.
Elaine was predeceased by her husband Don in 2006, her son-in-law Mike Hoffert in 2008 and her sister Elizabeth McDonald in 2019.
