James Franklin Allison
James (Jim) Franklin Allison passed away January 28, 2025. Jim was born in Hibbing, MN on April 10,1937 to Franklin and Anna Allison. Jim is survived by his son Greg, daughter in law Tonya and grandson Chris Demgen of Carlsbad, CA as well as nieces and nephews from his previously deceased sisters and brother. Over the last 25 years Jim split time between his primary residence in Genesee, CO and Solana Beach, CA while traveling the world with his partner Renita Greenberg, playing lots of golf and watching his grandson play baseball.
Jim was a longtime educator and administrator in the Jefferson County Public Schools as well as an artist. His art career began in Minnesota with degrees from St. Cloud State University, a Master’s Degree from the University of Northern Colorado and post-graduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis and Denver University. In addition to teaching art in the public schools and at the university level, Jim was an Art Consultant with the John D. Rockefeller III Fund, Arts in Education for twelve years, eight years as an Executive Board Member, Alliance for Arts Education at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Washington, D.C. and six years as an Arts Consultant, U.S. Office of Education, Washington, D.C.
Jim’s works are in private collections throughout the United States and Europe and his paintings and photographs have been exhibited in solo and group shows at:
