San Marcos, California - died on Wednesday February 12, 2025 at her home surrounded by family.


Mary was born on March 27, 1932 in Racine, WI. The eldest daughter of the late Russell J. and Genevieve M. Mascari. She is also preceded in death by husband Anthony; brothers Jerry and Jim; and Daughter-in-law Linda.
She is survived by brothers Russell and wife Kat; Richard and wife Suzy; Her sons: Mark of Cape Coral, FL; Anthony of Sturtevant WI; and John of Mt. Gilead, NC; her daughter and son-in-law Mary Lou and James Nye of San Marcos CA.
Six Grandchildren- Sommer and husband Peter McMahon; Nicholas Savino; Adam Savino; Katherine and husband David Abaray; Sophia and husband David Schaffer and Emily Nye. Nine Great Grandchildren- Anthony (son of Katherine and David); Christian (son of Nicholas); Cole (son of Sommer and Peter); Paris (daughter of Nicholas); Cassius (son of Sommer and Peter); Teadora (daughter of Adam); Hudson and Axel (sons of Sophia and David); and Griffin (son of Adam).


Mary worked for the Retail Clerks Union for 40 years. After retirement and upon moving with her late husband Anthony to San Marcos, CA in 1994, they became parishioners of Church of the Resurrection. Mary gave many years of her time and talent to the church by becoming involved in The Legion of Mary, and the Ladies of Resurrection and a Eucharistic Minister. Prior to her death she was made an honorary Columbiet by the Knights of Columbus. Mary also became involved at her home in Madrid Manor, she would often be seen singing and dancing in the Madrid Manor Follies, as well as playing the card game Hand and Foot and crocheting as part of the In Stitches group and being involved with the Bible Study Group.

A Rosary will be offered at 7 PM on Tuesday, February 25th at Church of the Resurrection recited by The Legion of Mary.
Mary’s celebration of life, will be on Wednesday February 26th at 11 AM at Church of the Resurrection officiated by Rev Father Ed Bernadino. A reception will follow the service in the Parish Hall.
Inurnment will follow at 2:30 PM at San Marcos Cemetery officiated by Rev Father Ed Bernadino.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Palomar Hospice for their loving support and care of Mary.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions can be given to the Church of the Resurrection Knights of Columbus - 9897
Cremation Services Inc. handled final arrangements.
