Diane Elizabeth Granger
Diane Elizabeth Granger, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on January 20, 2025, at the age of 82, after a long battle with health issues.
Born on November 5, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, to Ruth and Owen Miller, Diane was the eldest of four children and devoted sister to Patricia, Rose, and Gerald. She grew up on Piper Avenue in Detroit, directly across from St. Martin Parish & School, where she completed her elementary, middle and high school years.
After graduating from St. Martin's High School, Diane ventured to California in pursuit of her dreams during her early twenties. However, her love for her family brought her back to Michigan, where she began her career at Manufacturers Bank, now known as Comerica Bank. It was in Michigan that she met her future husband, Francis Granger, and together, they settled in Harrison Township. There, they raised two children, David and Kristen, and enjoyed many years surrounded by family and friends. After dedicating 30 years to Comerica Bank, Diane retired in 1998 and returned to California, where she lived out her later years. In 2003, Diane extended her circle of family and friends and joined the Vista Friends & Newcomers association, happily participating in bringing people together through social and cultural activities. During her time in the club, she warmly welcomed newcomers, nurturing friendships and a sense of community.
Diane was passionate about baking, reading, and, most importantly, spending time with her family and friends. Her chocolate cakes and chocolate chip cookies were 'legendary' for those that had the pleasure of indulging in her creations. She especially treasured time spent with her six grandchildren, often involving baking treats. Christmas was her favorite of all the holidays, where she most valued family get-togethers and quality time with loved ones.
Diane is survived by her husband of 55 years, Francis; her children, David and Kristen; six grandchildren; and her brother, Gerald.
A funeral Mass in honor of Diane will be held on January 30 at 1:00 PM at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 1147 Discovery Street, San Marcos, CA 92078. A luncheon will follow immediately in the parish hall.
